It was one of the dragons that was born out of the blood that was thrown up by Antharas. After swallowing the Ancient Drake and absorbing its power, it quickly arose as a Commander that rules over the monsters nearby. It has good hearing but its vision is very poor, so it waits in a quiet, dark place, listening to the enemy's heartbeat, before swooping in for an attack.
